I have always considered myself more of a Christmas kinda gal rather than a New Year's fan. I'm a prospective Mrs. Claus if you will, but after a somewhat awkward Christmas 2020 I needed a fun, laidback New Year's Eve party. So, it was Cocktails, Fondue, Sparkles & Besties for the win!

A cocktail kind of night...
A glass of red has been my drink of choice on an almost nightly basis since lockdown began, so I felt like NYE needed something a little more special, a little more sparkling, an a LOT more festive. While my cocktail of choice will always be a Disarrono Sour, I have to say these special drinks did not disappoint!
We started off with an elevated Champagne cocktail: Sparkling Midnight Thyme Rose
and OMG this one is good! A little floral with a herby kick, it's simple but special!
We followed those up with two cocktails by one of my favourite & most inspirational online foodies: Half Baked Harvest. I swear, everything she makes sounds and looks incredible, and given that I've tried so many of her recipes before, I can testify to it tasting amazing too!
Fondue Family DInner
Turns out fondues are goooood! We might not have had a traditional cheese fondue...because even for cheese-lovers like my fam, a cheese fondue AND a cheese board is a little too much cheese. But a fried fondue is a pretty good alternative. We had steaks, battered veggies, and lots of bread 'n dips, the ideal base for all the drinking we did afterwards.

Photographing the Night away
My friends and I have spent a lot of quality time together over the last nine months, blame social bubbles etc. but it was so special that they were willing to spend such a notorious party night in such a relatively lowkey way with me, my sister and our parents instead. That's not to say, we didn't suffer the obligatory killer New Year's Day hangover though! Totally worth it for all these memories though!

Goodbye 2020 and Cheers to 2021
2020 might've been a very tricky year for us all but saying goodbye to 2020, surrounded by my best friends, felt like the perfect way to start 2021. So cheers to you all, and here's hoping 2021 will bless us all with a little more normality, lots more fun and all the love. xxx
